April Blog

It's been our busiest few months ever, so busy in fact that I didn't have time to write last month's Blog!! That's a first and so if you do like to read what we've been up to I'm so sorry, it won't happen again! It hopefully means this month's should be more juicy though.....

Erik & his 9 lives......all used at once!

Firstly a sad tale with a happy ending. We went out for supper a few Saturdays ago, at the fabulous Cliffhouse in Barton on Sea, and when we got home we discovered Erik in a terrible state. For those of you who don't know Erik he's one half of Ester & Erik, our kittens named after our favourite candle brand! He'd been hit by a car, there was blood everywhere, his leg was split from paw to tummy, and we feared for his life.

We called our out-of-hours vet number and guess what, they've outsourced that service and we'd need to take Erik to the other side of Wimborne (about a 50 minute drive)! To make matters worse the call centre who took the call were appalling and the whole experience was just shocking - sadly those of you've I've told guessed which vet this is!

It's just unbelievable how they (vets) make a fortune from us customers and then if something turns out not as profitable for them guess what.....they don't want to know. Disgraceful.

Anyway, we then called Milford village vet 'Flying Vet Service' and they could not have been more helpful. Bear in mind it was midnight, within 20 minutes they were there and seeing to Erik. They saved his leg and frankly, his life, and we're so grateful.

Erik's got stitches everywhere, he's lost a few pads on his paw and all of his claws, but he's okay and healing well.

Moving on.......we've been nominated for an award!! Will you vote for us?

NEW arrival - VanillaFly of Denmark

VanillaFly is a brand with an edge and I just fell in love with them as soon as I saw them, they do fabulously contemporary home textiles and interior décor and we've started with some of their stunning velvet cushions & bags, some wall art, aluminium skulls, and some of their framed prints.

They're based just outside of Copenhagen in Denmark, they've only been going since 2010 but they've quickly expanded throughout Scandinavia and is now distributed, through carefully selected independent stockists (we were so delighted when they selected us), worldwide.

Their products are cool and inspirational and we hope you love them as much as we do, here's a little taster for you (and I hope you like my design here, Glenn did it for me as I'm rubbish at computer stuff!)....

Apple Blosson Velvet Cushion

As you can see the colours and design are very striking, and they come in various sizes.  For me the feeling of soft velvet on your skin is just divine!

Toile Protea Velvet bag

They also make velvet bags, these come in 8 designs and there's just the one size. We've already sold out of some designs but there are more on the way!

Bull Skulls

VanillaFly also do a range of wall art, such as framed prints (some of which we have in stock) but they also do these amazing bull skulls, they're stunning!

Shepherd of Sweden - Summer Sandals and a VERY unique sheepskin!

Many of you already love our Sheepskin brand, Shepherd, having browsed and bought their sumptuous sheepskins, luxurious cushions, and of course the range of slippers and Winter outdoor footwear we stock.

But we've just got their Summer sandals in and within a week we've had to place another order! We've currently got 2 sandal types, Mathilda and Patricia (see table below), and we're expanding our range and are awaiting our second order arriving from Sweden. BUT Shepherd have told us they're struggling to keep up with demand, as it's a brand new design & range, and so please be patient with us if we don't have your size.

And the third image provides an incredible opportunity for someone to own a truly one-off, long-haired sheepskin. I say sheepskin, it's actually 16 sheepskins beautifully stitched together, by Shepherd themselves, for one of their private clients who then changed their specification. And so rather than un-stitch it their UK agent said "I know just the person who will have this", and she was right, I snapped it up!

As you can see it's HUGE, 3.3m (11ft) x 2m (6.5ft), it's heavy, and it's absolutely beautiful and so if you want something truly unique, eye-catching, and stunning come and take a look.

Mathilda

These sandals come with a lovely Black or Grey Flower pattern. But hurry, they've been in huge demand and we're sturuggling to re-order in all the sizes!

Happy Birthday to us!

50 years old.........Nooooo!

And finally, and most worrying, both Glenn & I turned 50 in April! Bizarrely our birthday's are a day apart and we're the same age, it was meant to be most say!

We've both been spoiled rotten by all of our friends and family, and many of our customers which was such a wonderful surprise. Glenn & I also went on a short break to Amsterdam to celebrate where we went to see an amazing show about the life of Georgio Morodor.

Don't think you know who he is? Well he wrote / produced 'Flashdance, what a feeling', 'Together in Electric Dreams', 'Never ending story', 'Take my breath away' & 'Danger zone' from Top Gun.....and he also wrote 'Call Me' for Blondie, 'I feel love' & 'Love to love you' for Donna Summer.....I could go on & on.

Georgio presnted the show himself, he's so amazing (not least as he's in his late 70s!), and we danced from start to finish! The show is still touring and so you might be able to get tickets for the UK, or wherever else you can find it.

Well that's it, I told you we'd been busy! Thank you so much for reading, and supporting us as always, and please don't forget to vote for us in the Muddy Awards.

See you next month,

Clare (& Glenn) xx
